NEWS FLASH: Ron Paul Wins Alabama Straw Poll By Wide Margin
NEWS FLASH: A media source is reporting the following:
"The 2008 presidential election already has people choosing sides and candidates.
On Saturday, the Alabama Republican Assembly tried to get a sense of which conservative candidate Alabamians are supporting most by holding an informal straw poll at the Bryant Conference Center.
Out of 266 ballots cast, it was Texas Congressman Ron Paul by an overwhelming majority, with former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney in a distant second."

The illegal alien criminal, who received sactuary in a Chicago church for 9 months, is out in public insisting she should not be deported. And ICE has yet to arrest this lawbreaking, trouble-making ingrate.
Why doesn't someone make a citizen's arrest of this broad, drag her to ICE's office and have her deported?
Re: Kurt
I just wanted to let you know that that was the absolute BEST endorsement for Ron Paul that I have come across so far. You said it man!!!! - I just hope that the rest of the country wakes up too before it's too late!
In addition, we also really need to inform the eldery citezens in our society of Presidential candidate & Patriot, Dr. Ron Paul. - The majority of our elderly are still relying on the mainstream media outlets to inform them of the news (and we obviously know which candidate they have been ignoring and belittling!). Remember, our elderly vote in high numbers! We need to spread the word to them in a big way.
Cheers to us following the Constitution in '08 !!!!!
It's awesome to see so much Ron Paul support! And yet, so little coverage in the media...the Machine couldn't be more obvious right now. And yet, thanks to the internet I know that this country is full of Ron Paul supporters. It's great to see so many people still care about the consitution. And if he doesn't get the nomination I will be writing him in.
I'm generally a liberal, but that's probably because I haven't seen a true conservative in a long while. Limited government has always been a REAL conservatives outlook. NO republican candidate is pushing for state's rights as much as Congressman Ron Paul.
The thing about Ron Paul is, even if you don't agree on every issue with him, you can't help but respect him. He's just got honesty and integrity through and through.
RE: Mike Malone
Mike, you are so right!!! Most elderly folks that I have talked to, who would otherwise vote for Ron Paul, have never heard of him. If we are serious about supporting Dr. Paul, we're going to have to go to the churches and early morning restarants/coffee shops (where the old folks kick it) and spread the word ourselves. The mainstream media is counting on us doing NOTHING more than talk about how he is being ignored. DON'T COMPLAIN, DO SOMETHING. Talk about Dr. Paul with strangers at Wal-Mart, Cosco, etc.
I get it, all of it, and I can tell you this. It doesn't matter how united our brotherhood of grass roots volunteers is, Ron Paul will mess over all those people.
He doesn't believe in personal rights at all, only in that we can do anything we want as long as we have the power to back it up. I think all those things you're talking about are great, but Ron Paul is not the guy who will help any of it.
The first thing he will do is work to repeal Roe vs Wade and make abortion illegal. Listen to his own words at the straw poll. (thank you thank you thank you):

Freedom, prosperity and peace.
Freedom: no right for a woman to choose.
Prosperity: National business will be strong, people will be weak. Military spending will rise. Guns would have stopped 9/11??!!! What??!! Self reliance (pull yourself up by your bootstraps), keep the fruits of your labor? That means less regulation and tax liability for businesses and CEOs.
Peace: I'm for it.
Strict interpretation of the constitution always sounds good, but that is ridiculous. People that blithely throw out that argument have no idea what they're getting themselves into. We've been writing, interpreting and enforcing laws that define the Constitution for 200 years. Today we face challenges that there was absolutely no way the founders of our country could have forseen. That's why they wrote it specifically to be read in conjunction with the times. Jefferson called for it to rewritten every 10 years!
When R Paul says a return to the old ways, he means getting rid of public programs, loans, business controls, labor laws, etc. If we really go back to the Constitution, we (as individuals) are in serious trouble. The founders NEVER intended this but people like Ron Paul use it as a nationalistic calling for the citizens. So OK, lets go back to the original interpretation. I'm a white American lower-upper class male. I'll be fine.
If you really want to know what it means to go back to what the Constitution originally said, I think you need to do some research and see how those words have been used. Look specifically at how Supreme Court Justice Scalia has interpreted law using that exact same argument to say there can be segregation, minorities can be treated differently, no health care rights, no right to public school, no workers rights.
FACT: The Constitution was written by rich white landowners to be used as a facilitator of international trade. It was used to create one power for other countries to conduct trade deals with. Today people think it only consists of the Bill of Rights. It was written to give us financial power and the ability to kick the British out of our country (something the individual states couldn't do after The Revolutionary War). It was a document showing where power lies, but never said much at all about human rights or governments responsibilities to the individuals apart from having a strong military.
I AM angry about this guy because he's dangerous. He appeals to people because he sounds like he's saying ra ra America, but he's only going to help the rich.
As far as grass roots and all that: I am grass roots. I am talking about this and am by definition part of a grass roots movement by doing so. I write my Senators and Congressmen on a regular basis. I am involved.
As far as power to the people and brotherhood: Hell yeah!!!! But this isn't what he's saying. He calls it that because he got a good response. He is tricking people into voting against their interests and the crowd is following him like he's going to help them somehow. HE WON'T! He's telling us all what he's going to do.
He's going to spend more on military, repeal Roe v Wade, decrease business regulation, allow anyone with money to buy into better alternatives, etc etc.
Neverman,
"The Constitution was written by rich white landowners to be used as a facilitator of international trade."
And yet, straying away from the Constitution Has created more "rich white landowners", and taken away our rights and freedoms.
Yes, he wants to overturn RvW because the federal government shouldn't have gotten involved in the first place. He wants to give that power back to the states... where "we the people" have more of a say.
Am I against abortion? Yes. Do I think the government should have the power to say it's legal/illegal? NO. I'll even go one further... It shouldn't even be the "states" decision. That's between that person and God (or which ever beliefs they have). However, I think it should be up to the Dr.s whether or not they want to perform the abortions.
"National business will be strong, people will be weak."
Wrong and you really need to do your homework on how these big businesses and corporations work today.
"Military spending will rise."
How on earth did you get to that conclusion?
Guns would have stopped 9/11??!!! What??!!
Yes it's possible!!! If those pilots would've been able to arm and defend themselves those men might not have been able to take over the planes with box cutters.
"Self reliance (pull yourself up by your bootstraps),"
Everything starts with "yourself"... If you want change where do you start? With yourself; go, do, and be active. How can you ever expect to know someone else if you don't know your own self?
"keep the fruits of your labor?"
Yes, That means that they can't tax your "income", because it's not "income"... you TRADE your services for money. Income was defined as "corporate gains". And the only one's the 16th amendment was suppose to tax was foreigners or people who worked for a foreign company/employer. But beyond that you might want to research a guy with the last name of Benson... He holds 17,000 court certified documents that prove beyond doubt that the 16th amendment was NEVER LEGALLY RATIFIED! Heck, The IRS (like the Fed Reserve) isn't even run by the government!
That means less regulation and tax liability for businesses and CEOs.
Wrong again! and please do some more research.
